Mountain town Constanza’s highway reconstruction advances

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Public Works Ministry continues the works to rebuild the highway which links the Central Mountain town, Constanza, at a cost of more US$1.4 billion.

The highway’s reconstruction includes the roadway’s expansion and improving some sections so heavy vehicles can use without risks.

Heavy equipment of the construction company Odebrecht conclude the retaining walls to contain the rockslides from the mountains which border the highway in several points considered risky.

The Casabito-Constanza 51 kilometer span which links the town with the Duarte highway will have two, 3 meter-wide lanes and a 10 centimeter-thick asphalt layer, as well as a granular base in cement, to assures its durability.

Public works also said it works in the drainages’ cleanup and reconstruction, widened curves and the replacement of the protective railings.
